Hanging Out with Old Friend

Meet my high school friend, Nanda, last Monday and we spent our time all day in Grand Indonesia (yes,  expensive, I know). Actually, I don't really like Grand Indonesia that much (except it's interior design) because I don't feel like I am part of their market segment. I usually go here just for watching movie at Blitz or eating with friends. Shopping? Not interested. Because I am not a branded type and it just doesn't feel right if I spent my parents' money for buying something that sooo expensive, hehe. But may be I would love to go shopping here when I become financially independent :)

I went to Yoshinoya, Marché, Gramedia, and Blitz at that day. All of them are not a new thing for me except Marché. Yes, I haven't been there before. So, let me share my first exploration here.

Let's Start Drooling!

Hi all, do you love eating?

Me? Of course I do. No doubt, haha.

But then, if I change the question to "do you love cooking?", is the answer still the same? ehehe.

Me? Not really. Even when I'm doing so, I would rather say that I am experimenting, not cooking. Why? First, I'm not a pro, indeed; second, it's simply because whenever I try to make some food, it ends up like trial and error, sometimes it pan out, sometimes not.

But, like Michael Hunter said, "Learning does not happen from failure itself, but rather from analyzing the failure, making a change, and then trying again". So never give up, even a pro chefs have to try a same recipe a thousand times to get the best combination and flavor.

Eventhough I am not a chef and not good at cooking, I do looove visiting cooking blogs and seeing all delicious food pictures on it. And actually, what I want to share to you all here is some cooking sites that I visit most. You should visit too, and start drooling like me, hahaha.

What I love the most from this sites, besides the delicious food photos, is the step-by-step-process photos of the recipe cooked by the owner of this site. For me, photos can explain more than just text, no?

More delicious food photos attack! hahaha. This site is also nice, it does not post every-step photos, but ingredients photo in the beginning of every post is clear enough to explain the readers who wanna try the recipes.

What else could you expect? Full of high-resolution-food-photos, this site can make me drooling :9 Maybe photos can motivate you to start cooking something, who knows?

My Very Own Cupcake

Hola! Today, my Saturday morning was filled up with productivity. I woke up early and went to campus for joining seminar and workshop about culinary business, more specifically, cupcakes! It was not only an ordinary talk show, but also... practice. Yes, each participant was given one cup cake to be decorated and 100 gr basic fondant. Tons of fun!

Ritual Pasca UAS

Ujian semester kelar, saatnya senang-senang! Post kali ini isinya ga jauh-jauh dari jalan-jalan alias hang out, tapi yang satu ini agak beda sedikit, namanya jalan-jalan geng riset. Jalan-jalan wajib yang cuma ada setiap akhir semester, dengan saya, @utitatituteto, @ardalitaa, @dwickyputra, dan @dimasdotadi sebagai personil tetapnya.

Jadi sejarahnya, waktu semester 3 kemarin, ada mata kuliah yang namanya Business Research alias Riset Bisnis.  (Un)fortunately,  kita berlima ada di satu kelompok yang sama dan harus bikin satu riset dan hasilnya dipresentasikan di pertemuan terakhir di semester 3. Risetnya waktu itu tentang fast food gitu deh. Kalo diinget-inget, rasanya riset kelompok kita kayaknya yang paling simpel dan yang paling sering kena semprot sama Bu Tri (read: sang dosen Riset), tapi ga apa-apa, justru karna Riset-lah ritual jalan-jalan ini ada. Nah jadi, setelah semester 3 selesai dan Riset kita juga selesai, lupa gimana sejarah lengkapnya tapi pokoknya kita memutuskan untuk jalan-jalan bareng, salah satu alasannya kalo ga salah ya untuk merayakan terlepasnya kita dari si Riset dan embel-embelnya itu. Jadilah kita jalan-jalan dari siang sampe malem, keliling-keliling Jakarta, wisata kuliner dan melakukan hal-hal senang-senang lainnya di salah satu hari di masa liburan UAS semester 3, 4, dan sekarang 5.

Nah, semester 5 ini, kita jalan-jalannya hari Kamis, tanggal 2 Februari. Agendanya yaitu.... pergi makan sate padang di jalan Cikajang, photo box dan nonton The Muppets di XXI PIM, lanjut ke surabi Enhai, mampir bentar di McDonalds, karaokean di Inul Vista, plus ketawa-ketawa dan foto-foto tanpa kenal lelah pake digicam-nya Uti. Intinya sih, MENYENANGKAN! :-)

Friday Bloody Friday

Hai bloppers sekalian, Happy Friday all!

Ciyee udah hari Jumat aja ya blop, artinya apa coba? weekend start!

Weekend = harga tiket bioskop udah lebih mahal = jalanan tambah macet = tempat-tempat hiburan plus resto-resto tambah padet = yagitudeh. (apasih?)

Um, okay, kali ini ga ada hal spesifik yang mau saya post, jadi izinkan saya untuk ngetik ngalor-ngidul dan membuat posting kali ini jadi agak kriuk-kriuk-crispy alias garing, okeyy? hahaha.

Saturday Night at d'ocean Seafood Resto

My college friends and I went to d’ocean restaurant to have a dinner this Saturday night. Actually, we were all being treated by 4 of my friends because they have just had their birthday.

“d’ocean is a family restaurant with specially assorted seafood dishes such as prawns, squid, crab, fish and clams. Combination of local spices with a unique cooking technique prepared by professional and experienced chefs, creating dishes with appealing presentations and authentic traditional taste. The essence of the dishes are found in its freshness and premium ingredients originated ranging from Sabang to Merauke, combined with an excellent mixture of spices. Explore the unforgettable dining experience at d’ocean premium seafood restaurant with the comfortable and cozy atmosphere.”

In my own opinion, interior of D'Ocean is quite modern, this restaurant has two floors with a capacity of 150 people, more or less. And yeah, this is a cozy and comfy place with delicious-prizy foods. But I think the prize is quite worth with what we get and what they serve.

How about the menu? Actually I have lil bit forget what we ordered on that night. But I still remember some. Here is the easiest menu to be memorized, Tahu Telur Merapi! I remember this one because of its unique name and appearance. It was made of tofu covered by eggs.

Next, another menu that I can still remember is this one, Udang Galah Bakar Saus Madu (Grilled Prawns with Honey Sauce). Here's the picture.

As far as I remember, we also ordered Hot Plate Kangkung Lombok Balacan (Lombok Swam Cabbage Balacan on Hot Plate) and some more that I cannot remember any longer. -_-

Friday Night at d'cost Plaza Semanggi

Hi, blopples!

Last Friday Night (January, 28th 2011), I and eleven of my friends were having a regular social gathering, or usually called 'arisan' in this country. Girls time! For this month, we choose d'cost seafood Plaza Semanggi as the venue. Um... Maybe before I going too far, I will explain you a little about what 'arisan' is, for those of you who don't know yet.

Quoted from wikipedia, here is the description about arisan itself:

"Arisan is an Indonesian social gathering in which a group of friends and relatives meet monthly for a private lottery. Each member of the group deposits a fixed amount of money into a pot, then a name is drawn and that winner takes home the cash. After having won, the winner's name is removed from the pot until each member has won and then the cycle is complete. This is called a fixed lottery because it is fair to all participants in that each member wins an equal amount over the course of a complete cycle."

For me, arisan is not about the money or who will win the cash, it's more about having a quality time with your friends. As usual as always, I love togetherness, and arisan is one that can build a togetherness. So I love Arisaaan!! hahaha.

So, here is the story, the members of this arisan is me, Nana, Uti, Ninda, Tifani, Fara, Clara, Icha, Linda, Rani, Mayang and Dhanti. But sadly, Dhanti couldn't come because she had to meet her father. And, oh yup, we had Fenny too, she is not the member, but she is such a very kind-hearted angel who want to take pictures of us. Here are some of the pictures.

As I have mentioned before, We went to d'cost seafood, it is kind of seafood restaurant
with a quite-affordable price. We were talking, taking photos, and do so many things while waiting for our orders.

And here they are, we ordered Gurame Asam Manis, Tumis Kangkung Balacan & Sambal Terasi, Gurame Bakar and Cumi Saus Padang (if I'm not mistaken). Um... I googled the photos because I didn't take any photos of foods. But, don't worry, this is similar enough with what we ate. If it's compared with anothers seafood resto, d'cost is quite cheap and affordable, and the service is good enough. You should come here together with your friends or family so that you can share the order, I mean, It's quite impossible to eat one Gurame Asam Manis by yourself, rite? haha.

Over all, I love this night, nice gathering, and I feel so full! hahaha. And, oh yup, we got two winners this time, because we'll have a holiday on February, so we cannot meet up each other on that month. So, here they are, Icha & Linda! Early Dinner with Pals @ Hoka Hoka Bento Ambassador Mall

Hi there, I can't sleep so here we go, posting in the middle of night.

This post is about what I've done on Thursday afternoon (January, 27^th 2011) with my college friends (boards of Himpunan Mahasiswa Manajemen Universitas Bakrie 2010/2011).We were gathered together and had an early dinner at Hoka Hoka Bento Japannese Restaurant at Ambassador Mall. We were all happy, noisy, and also hungry, hahaha. Some of us were busy on taking a picture, some others were chatting and talking about whatever the topic was, even one of us was doing a  trick, so entertaining! And also full of yelling, hahaha. These are some pictures from us. Enjoy.
